Symbolizing the further socialization of the child, it pictures a personality displaying humanity and taking an active interest in group activities. Along with cutting his/her first adult teeth, The Pioneer begins to come to grips with the vast repository of human culture through reading, writing and the media. They have much to teach, and since they do so by example, they leave little doubt about their honesty--they put it on the line each time. They also convey a nobility and a depth of conscience and commitment that are highly admirable. Finally, they are not solemn moralists but truly fun-loving people who revel in activities like cookouts, summer vacations, outings and parties of all sorts.
